About Me
My name is Shanice McLean and I am from Los Angeles, California. Duke is a long way from home but i definitely could not imagine being anywhere else. I was comfortable trading my summer dresses and sandals for sweaters and boots. On another note, I am currently a trinity student but I am looking to transfer into Pratt. I want to be a civil/environmental engineer.
Name Pronunciation
My first name is not said how it is spelled. It is pronounced "shu-knee-s" and my last name is "Mc-Lean." My name is not that difficult to pronounce but I have gotten some interesting variations in pronunciation of my name.

Grand Challenges Article
I am very interested in designing water systems that provide safe water to impoverished communities. One of the great challenges address this. It talked about Berkeley students providing safe water to impoverished areas of india and Sri Lanka. This looks like something that would be fun especially since duke has a program like this that was done in Uganda last summer. Matlab Demonstration
My favorite demonstration was the 3-D plot because it is interesting how the plane can look so realistic. I could see how these plots can be used for real-life project plans. The plot can easily reflect the layout of a project area.
