About Me

Hello, my name is Michael Deng. I am part of the Duke class of 2016 and am planning on majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I lived in Charlotte, NC before I came to Duke but I am originally from Miami, Fl. My passions include video games, frisbee, tennis, messing around with computers, politics, and tree climbing (just go with this last one). I currently live in Alspaugh as a freshman. Yeah that's it.

Matlab Demo Video

My favorite video out of all the videos and scripts I looked at was the program of the traveling salesman. The first thing I thought about was the randomization of the city placements. I remember in class where the use of the command >>rand<< created random numbers but always the same random numbers in the same order. I wondered if this system of "randomization" also applied to the placement of the cities, but it turned out it did not. My interest in this demo was the flexibility of the program and how the program could independently choose the best fit path of shortest distance between cities. In other words, I really liked the fact that the program could adapt to different situations. I really look forward to creating programs like this, that have both adaptive abilities and the chance to mess around with graphics and interface.
