Grand Challenges for Engineering Article

This article explains the outlook for one of the Grand Challenges, namely reverse-engineering the brain.

Name Pronunciation

My family pronounces my name, "Jake Sharaf" like "JAKE SHARE-if." Almost like- I will (share) with you (if). Share-if. The IPA version is /ˈdʒek ˈʃɛrɪf/.

MATLAB Demonstrations

My favorite demo was the one regarding 3-D Surface Plots. The demo consisted of an interactive window that allowed you to control various inputs to change the 3-D surface that was in the window. There were drop down windows in which you could change plot type, shading, color scheme, and axis. You could also change the view of the graph by panning, zooming, and even rotating the 3-D graph. I really enjoyed this demo because so far in class we have only delt with two dimensional graphs, so seeing a three dimensional surface was intriguing.
