About Me

I am an incoming freshman from Turkey. I was recruited by the swimming team so I will be representing Duke in the pool this year. I was born in Istanbul, Turkey and I have lived there ever since. A fact about me is that I have travelled all over Europe, so I consider myself as an European.

Name Pronunciation

My name is Yilmaz Yigit Tokman. I prefer my middle name Yigit because your middle name is considered your first name in Turkey. Pronouncing my name is pretty difficult because the g in my name is actually a soft g, as in there is no stress on it. In other words its like my name is pronounced as Yi-it. My last name is pronounced as it sounds, like the tok from tik-tok, and man so Tok-MAN.

Interests and Hobbies

I am a swimmer so my greatest talent and interest is swimming. But I love doing many things in general. I am also talented at basketball. I always say that I could've been a Basketball player instead of swimming if I wanted to. I also love shopping, especially techno-gadget places like apple and bose.

MatLab Demo

My favorite demo from MatLab was "Game of Life". The reason is the moving cells and the not moving sells represent the colonies which are living in a very interesting way.
