Homework #2

Matlab: Game of Life Demo

My favorite demo out of the ones found in Matlab's help menu is the "Game of Life." (life.m) The description says that the demo is a "cellular automaton invented by John Conway..." This demo simulates colonies of "cells" that will live or die depending on its surrounding cells. I thought that this would be a very complicated script. However, most of the 215 lines of script are comments and spaces. Much of the rest is just formatting script (for buttons, plotting, etc). Very little of the script is actually calculating whether the "cell" will live or die. I was surprised that MatLab could make such versatile graphics and simulators.
