About Michael Kusnierek

Michael Kusnierek is a student at Duke University and is currently enrolled at the Pratt School of Engineering. He enjoys playing sports on the weekends and going to the Duke football games. Michael would like to be a mechanical engineer in the future and hopes to contribute to many of the global challenges we face today. While college has given him a lot of work, he is enjoying his experience and meeting many new interesting people.

Hometown

Michael Kusnierek was born on the north shore of Long Island in a town called Manhasset. Manhasset is known for many things including the setting for F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, The Great Gatsby, and its excellent lacrosse program. While not a lacrosse player, Michael spent much of his time playing baseball for his high school team, the Manhasset Indians. Some famous Manhasset residents include Bill O'Riley, Carson Daly, and Jose Reyes.

Name Pronunciation

While Michael's first name may be easy to pronounce, his last name has been known to give people trouble. His name can be properly recited as follows: MY-kull KUZ-ner-IK. With a polish heritage, his last name is fairly uncommon in the United States.

Current Hobbies

Michael enjoys playing tennis, golf, basketball and flag football. He is currently on a flag football intramural team at Duke University with many of his friends from his dorm. He wishes to also join SAE's engineering club that helps design racing cars to compete in an international competition. Michael is very interested in carpentry and archeology as well.

My Favorite Demo

My favorite demo was the 3-D drawing example. As an artist that enjoys drawing figures, i have an appreciation for creativity that is clearly expressed with this application. Additionally, I have done similar problems in calculus that involve rotating lines around a strait line to make a vase or similar figure. I feel like writing code similar to this will be very important in engineering school in that building and planning is very visual and this application could be very useful. As a visual learner myself, i appreciate what the command "makevase" can do to make visualizing things much easier.
