About Me

My name is Erin Cleveland, but everyone calls me Camile, which is my middle name. I am currently a freshman at the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University planning on majoring in Civil Engineering, hopefully with an architectural certificate. I previously attended H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida, where I have lived my whole life. I live about a block and a half from Bayshore Boulevard, the longest continuous sidewalk in the world which also overlooks Tampa Bay. I have one older sister who attended Florida Southern College and is now a kindergarten teacher back in Tampa.

Interests

At Duke, I am a member of the Dancing Devils, so you'll see me at home football and basketball games. I am also a member of Society of Women Engineers (SWE) here at Duke and hope to get involved with Duke Engineers for International Development (DEID). In my free time, I love to do anything crafty or found on Pinterest. Almost every item of clothing I own is from Urban Outfitters, Free People, or Anthropologie, my three favorite stores. I also love music, especially artists like The 1975, Ed Sheeran, Arctic Monkeys, and Bastille.

Grand Challenge: Solar Power

One of the Grand Challenges for Engineering is making solar power more economical. This is one article that covers the recent advancements of solar technology: Solar Manufacturing: Not So Sunny, Kate Galbraith, New York Times, updated 14 January 2009, accessed 12 September 2014 (Make solar energy economical)

Favorite Demo

My favorite MATLAB demo was the 3D drawing one. It is so cool to create a 3-Dimensional object just by creating the outlines on a computer... The possibilities are seemingly endless!
