About me

I am Clarence Soh (pronounced as "kleh-runs so"), an undergraduate freshman who is intending to major in Mechanical Engineering at Duke University. In particular, I would like to learn more about product design, renewable energy and climate adaptation infrastructure. I am also interested in the Earth Sciences.

Background

I'm an international student from Singapore.

Hobbies/Interests

  • Drones (Aerial Videography & hoping to learn more about FPV flying)
  • Drum set
  • Taekwondo
  • Nature hikes and cycles

Current classes

  1. EGR103 Computational Methods in Engineering
  2. EGR95FS First Year Engineering Design: E-bike charger project!
  3. EGR95FS Emerging Materials and Technologies for Energy Future
  4. Math122L Calculus 2

Engineering Grand Challenges

I chose to focus on the solar energy grand challenge since I am from Singapore where there is a huge focus on solar energy. The article discusses the possibility of producing solar energy in outer space and beaming the energy back to Earth to be used.
