About Me

Hi! I'm Ashley, a penguin in disguise. I moved here from the Antarctic because of the Spheniscidae-Sapien Alliance: Grand Challenges for Penguins, which requires me to go and live in the world of the humans. There's also a human version of this, so yes, there is a human down in Antarctica living the life as a penguin, you know, catching fish, waddling with the penguinly swag and swimming in the antarctic waters and stuff. Anyway, I'm hoping to major in BME with a pre-med track and a Global Health certificate. So far, I'm having a great time at Duke!

Name Pronunciation

So my real name is in a series of penguin-like chirps and squwaks but to make everything easier, my human name, Ashley Qian, is pronounced ASH-lee CH-en. Fun Fact: chinese names that start with a Q is always pronounced as a CH!

Favorite Matlab Demonstration

I like the 3-D World Traveler demo because it can show me the fastest way to get from place to place and it can also calculate the distance between the two cities. I found myself thinking about flights routes and how Matlab could be used to plan those flight routes. Also, now I know the shortest way to swim back home!
