I am a freshman at Duke University looking to study Biomedical Engineering. I am originally from New Jersey, but Matthews, North Carolina has been my home for the past decade.

Name Pronunciation:

My name is Anna Lise McGowan; even though my first name is 'Anna' and my middle name is 'Lise,' I go by 'Anna Lise' exclusively. My name is pronounced with four syllables, 'UH-nuh LEE-suh,' even though it looks like it only has three syllables (the last one exists because my name is Norwegian, which does not have a silent 'e').

Interests:

I am involved in Duke's chapter of RUF (Reformed University Fellowship), a Christian campus ministry, as well as in my church off Duke's campus. I am also loving being part of the cello section of Duke's Symphony Orchestra.
