About Me

I am a freshman in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University. My intended major is BME, possibly with a minor in Chemistry, but my ultimate goal is to glorify God in everything that I do. I'm involved in Duke Cru and the Quidditch team.

Name Pronunciation

Ash-lee. My last name, the way my family pronounces it, is Boh-lik. It's a long "o" at the beginning. Just don't say Bah-ick, with a short "o"; it's one of my pet peeves.

Interests

Engineering, cats, pets in general (I'm starting to like dogs a bit), traveling, running, quidditch, shopping, video games, Cru, blobs, pool, frisbee, ping pong, adventures, and lots more.

Favorite MATLAB Demo

The first demo I tried out was the Minesweeper game. Granted, I was never very spectacular at this game, but it sounded interesting. I really thought that it was impressive that MATLAB could model this game. In the end, it did not end well for me, so I moved on to another demo.

I would have to say that my favorite was the Bending Truss Demo. I really enjoyed how this demo actually models a real truss bridge and how it depicted the effect of the frequency on the motion of the bridge. Some of the vibrations amused me because I cannot imagine a bridge moving like that in reality, but it was fun imagining what chaos would ensue on the bridges that vibrated at higher frequencies.
