About Me:

Hi! My name is Alison, and I am a first-year at Duke University in the Pratt School of Engineering. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a most likely double major in Physics as well as a minor in Spanish. I am from Nashville, Tennessee.

Name Pronunciation:

My name pronunciation is pretty straightforward. The thing that tends to be hard for people is spelling Alison with one L and Korn with a K.

Interests/Fun Facts:

- Watching and playing sports (I have played seven sports in my life, and love to play Spikeball on the quad.)

- Singing and listening to music (I'm in a Duke a capella group.)

- Reading and writing (I am a huge grammar nerd and write for the Duke Chronicle.)

- Eating ice cream (I could eat ice cream when it is 10 degrees outside.)

- Outdoor activities (I love to hike, camp, and explore nature.)

- Play board games with friends (but not the basic ones like Monopoly and Life--true board games)(I have currently have 7 in my dorm room.)

- Watch movies (I am currently working on a 100-bucket-list movie poster!)

- Engineering (I don't have too many engineering skills but right now I am trying to teach myself to 3D print.)

Grand Challenges for Engineering Article:

I chose this article because I am very fascinated by space and astrophysics and think it is very interesting that scientists have tried to harness reproductions of the fusion processes which occur in the sun for use on earth.
