Matlab Demnstration

The demonstration that I found the most interesting was the 'Viewing a Penny' graphic. I found it interesting that there were so many ways to represent a penny in a 3-D graphing environment. In showing the contour map, for example, the colors and the number of lines used can be manipulated so that the contour map generated by Matlab can be made to look very similar to the 3-D object being represented. In addition to contour plots, 3-D objects can be represented using colormap, in which the brightness of the object is proportional to its height. In the example, the colormap of the penny was manipulated to show an image that looked just like a photograph of a penny.
