About Me

Born in China, grew up in San Jose, California. Bay Area weather (and Bay Area in general) is unparalleled. I used to live 5 minutes away from Steve Jobs. Silicon Valley is like the Research Triangle of the west, only cooler. I speak English, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish. Currently brushing up the Chinese and working on Hindi. I have an unhealthy obsession with Bollywood movies and Hindi music. I'm currently a freshman in Trinity College but am hoping to transfer to Pratt as a BME/Pre-Med student. I'm part of a fusion dance team and a cappella group. I run.

Mucho gusto to meet you.

What's in a name?

My ethnic name is 刘锐, which is pronounced Líu Rùi (pronounced exactly like Ray). The name 锐 (Rùi) means sharp-minded. Flip the names around and you get Ray Liu! "Ray" rhymes with "hey." "Liu" is pronounced like LOU (yes, like the toilet).

Favorite Demos

2.3 MATLAB Demonstrations MATLAB also has several demonstrations to show you how various aspects of MATLAB work. Within the Help Navigator, still in the MATLAB group, click on the + next to the word Demos. If you are on a system that can play videos, watch the Getting Started with MATLAB video, otherwise skip to the next paragraph. You should run the demonstrations listed below by clicking on the name of the demonstration in the Help Navigator and reading through the description. Each of the demonstrations has code you can open as well as run - click the links at the top of the demonstration window to open the file and run the code in the command window. The codes may not make sense yet, but at least you can start seeing what MATLAB code looks like. Though you are certainly welcome to go through all the demonstrations, the ones in particular that you should look at this week are: • Mathematics: Basic Matrix Operations, Matrix Manipulation, Inverses of Matrices, Loma Prieta Earthquake • Graphics: 2-D Plots, 3-D Plots, 3-D Surface Plots, Line Plotting, Earth’s Topography, Viewing a Penny • Gallery: All of them, just to see them • Other Demos: Traveling Salesman, Game of Life, 3-D Drawing, Bending Truss
