FAQ

  • How does this work with a router? DukeEgr93 16:50, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
    • See the main PuTTY page, specifically with respect to setting up tunneling. Even if you are on a router, the tunneling will take care of getting the information to the right machine. DukeEgr93 21:42, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
  • What does PuTTY stand for? DukeEgr93 18:20, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
    • No idea. Apparently, it may not mean anything...[1] DukeEgr93 18:21, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
  • I keep getting a "QApplication::notify: Unexpected null receiver" message whenever I type the "kdvi lab1.dvi" command, which then allows me to type, yet none of the commands (besides "Ctrl C") will work. Thus, I am going back and forth, looking at what the previous command did, then having to exit out of the viewing window to run another code. To view again, I have to rerun the kdvi command. Is there something else I can do so that I don't have to go back and forth? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rebsterjcfreak (talkcontribs)
    • First, make sure you have the & after the kdvi lab1.dvi part so you still have control over the terminal. Second, with respect to the null receiver issue - that will happen on occasion. Just wait a bit for it to go away and the kdvi window will come up. If you made sure to add the & to it, you can no re-run latex lab1.tex and, when done processing, the kdvi window will update as well. DukeEgr93 15:26, 30 August 2008 (EDT)
