My name is pronounced Peter (Pee-tur) Candelora (Can-dehl-or-uh). I think my first name is pretty straightforward but apparently my last name is weird to some because I find my mail is often addressed to a "Mr. Candelabra." Pronunciation wise, it's really just the word "candle" + ora.

About Me

Though Duke seems to only ever refer to its students by their NetID, I do have a name! Pretty much everyone calls me Peter and I'm mostly of Italian descent (50%) but theres also a good bit of Cuban in me. I'm from just north of Tampa, FL and I've lived my whole life there... until now! I'm #Duke2021 and plan on majoring in Biomedical Engineering but I haven't quite figured out what I want to actually do with that degree, that's if I even continue to study Biomedical Engineering by the fourth year. Medical School? Eh, probably not. Duke's MD-PhD program? Who knows? Graduate School?--Actually, I think that's the one thing I'm sure I want to do... continuing past undergraduate school in some form or another, that is. As for my interests, I like to play the ukulele and the accordion but I guess it is more for fun because I found both for really cheap on Amazon and I have no impulse control when it comes to these things, and I don't really think I'm particularly good at either. However, I also love to cook and you can bet I can make the best meatballs you'll ever taste, and that's a fact, Jack!
