Hi! I am a freshman at Duke University studying Biomedical Engineering. In my free time, I enjoy skiing and running.

Grand Challenges The attached article is about a group of engineers who have developed an "Origami bridge" that could potentially be used in disaster zones. The bridge expands outward to cross an obstacle, and would allow for cars and people to cross. This type of development would drastically change evacuation routes and traffic in disaster areas. While this doesn't fit under any one area of the Grand Challenges, it best fits in the Urban Infrastructure category. This development would provide temporary infrastructure when it is otherwise damaged.

MATLAB Demonstrations My favorite MATLAB Demonstration would have to be Earth's Topography. I think it is very cool that MATLAB is able to take a data set, and through various code create different plots of the world. The 3-D plot was definitely the most impressive, but what made me like this demonstration so much was that these were things I never thought could be done through MATLAB, specifically adding color to the globe as it is done on both the 2D and 3D plots.
