About Me
My name is James Machak but you can call me Jamie. I was born and raised in a small town in northern New Jersey named Pompton Plains. Here at Duke, I am studying to become a civil engineer and hope to one day own my own civil engineering firm.
Name Pronunciation
Hopefully everyone knows how to say my first name, but my last name has gotten destroyed over the years. Jamie is pronounced in the English manner (as opposed to the hispanic Hi-may) as "Jay-May" like the bird and the month. My last name is pronounced "May-chack" as in the month and the sound a duck makes but with a ch.

My favorite demonstration was the demo about the bending trusses of bridges. As a prospective civil engineer, the engineering of bridges interests me and I even completed a final research project on such type of engineering. It was a very useful demonstration that helps me understand a basic concept of civil engineering.
