Brief Self-introduction
My real name is Qianli Wang, but I prefer to be called Charlie, because most people cannot pronounce my name correctly. Although I appreciate these people's effort to try their best, it's a Chinese character and it can be awkward when I don't realize that somebody is calling my name. I'm in Class of 2018 of Pratt School of Engineering and I'm currently a freshman (or the new name: first-year student, which I hate). I'm from Beijing, China. Being an international student is not easy, let alone to meet hundreds of people everyday, but I'm glad I'm adapting the new life. People always say I'm funny (or sometimes, hilarious) so being exclusive is not my style. I live in Randolph 304, and you are welcomed if you want to know more about me.
Name Pronunciation
"Charlie" is as simple as it is. "Wang" is a little bit tricky. The whole thing sounds like "CHA-r-lee, wu-ON". In French, "Charlie" sounds like "SHA-huh-lee".
Favorite Demonstration
I like the "The Sliding Puzzle" best. Every puzzle solving game I played, the sliding puzzles are an essential element. That using MATLAB can achieve this amazed me.
Possible Majors
I am 90% sure that I'm going to major in Electrical Engineering. What I'm not very sure about is to double major in Psychology. I'm personally fond of studying people's mind and I'd really like to take advantage of the other half of Duke's perfect education.
Courses This Semester
EGR 103: It's a mandatory class about how to use Matlab, an important tool in almost all areas of engineering.
MATH 212: Multivariable Calculus. Sounds horrible. But I hope not.
FRENCH 101: The fundamentals in French.
PSY 101: I hope this course can help me cope with my bad temper.
