About Me

I am a Pratt School of Engineering student at Duke University. I am a freshman and currently planning on majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I am from Nashville, Tennessee, but I was born in Boston, Massachusetts.

Name Pronunciation

My name is pronounced NIK-heel PEET-ur-sun. The name Nikhil is Indian, as half of my family is Indian.

Grand Challenges for Engineering

My personal favorite Engineering Grand Challenge is Engineer Better Medicines. I wrote a college essay on this challenge because I believe that with current advances in genomics, personalized medicine based on an individual's genome will soon be ubiquitous. Here is an article detailing the concept of personalized medicine:

Personalized medicine: Revolutionizing Drug Discovery and Patient Care, Geoffrey S. Ginsburg and Jeanette J. McCarthy, December 2001, accessed September 8 2019 (Engineer Better Medicines).
