Transferring Files

This page is meant to have instructions for getting files from a Windows-based PC to your CIFS space.
Transferring Files
The basic process is as follows:
- Start a file transfer client. In the B209 lab, this means SSH Secure Shell's Secure File Transfer Client; the rest of the instructions are based on that program. Be sure to open the Secure File Transfer Client and not just the Secure Shell.
- Click "Quick Connect"
- If you get an error opening the default file, click OK
- In "Host Name," enter
login-teer.oit.duke.edu
- In "User Name," enter your NetID
- Click "Connect"
- If you get a warning about Host Identification, click "Yes" to save the new host key
- Enter your password when prompted
- The window should now be divided in two sections - a Local section and a Remote section.
- For the first daq lab, this means the person originally not at the DAQ machine should now sit at the DAQ machine and start the Secure File Transfer Client. Once connected and logged in, in the Remote pane, double click on the EGR103 folder. Do not create a daq1 folder - you will be dragging the original person's daq folder in.
- In the Local pane, double click This PC then double click the CIFS drive mounted by the person originally on the DAQ machine. Double click into their EGR103 folder and you should see a daq1 folder.
- The Local pane will now be pointing to something like
Z:\EGR103\
while the Remote pane will be pointing to/winhomes/NetID/EGR103
. - Drag the daq1 folder from the Local pane into the Remote pane.
- Once that is done, close the SSH Secure File Transfer program.
- Repeat this process for all the partners not originally at the DAQ machine.
