Shreya Hurli

Shreya Hurli is in the class of 2021 at Duke University. She is currently a freshman. Prior to attending college, Hurli graduated from Columbus North High School in Columbus, Indiana.

She enjoys hiking, reading, debating, watching comedy shows like Archer and Last Week Tonight, and writing short sketches.

NAE Engineering Grand Challenge

Cyber attacks by governments and individuals alike are becoming increasingly common, as well as devastating, as more and more information is stored digitally. Strengthening a country's cyber defenses is quickly becoming as important in the 21st century as strengthening its military was in the 20th century. This is why one of our century's grand challenges is to improve cyber security.

The following article in WIRED, "Surpise! America Already Has a Manhattan Project for Developing Cyber Attacks" is about how the US has been working to improve its computer security by building cyber weapons.
