About Me

I am Samuel Rabinowitz (SAM-yoo-ul (shorter: SAM-yul) rah-BIN-oh-witz). I am a student in Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering's Class of 2021. I graduated from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC in 2017. I am from Bethesda, MD, where I live with my parents, two younger brothers, and cavalier.

I am currently looking into studying either mechanical or electrical engineering, and I will incorporate computer science with whatever I do because I have always liked programming. I am looking to get involved in robotics-related opportunities here at Duke because I was intensely involved in my high school robotics team for all four years and captain for junior and senior years. Each year, we did both on-land robotics for the FIRST Tech Challenge and underwater robotics for the MATE ROV Competition. I also am looking into entrepreneurial opportunities, as that is currently where I see myself after college or graduate school.

I love to casually improvise on the piano, ski, bike, sail, and program apps (I know Android well and am working on learning iOS) and other projects. I also really like photography, especially landscape and nature photography. And I'm open to play with anyone who wants to play bridge (the card game).

Favorite MATLAB Demonstration

My favorite MATLAB demonstration from the help page is the Loma Prieta Earthquake example. The fact that it analyzes (and even visualizes in 3D!) real-world data about an earthquake from accelerometers is interesting to me because I have used accelerometer data in my Android apps.
