About Me

My name is Kristin Miller and I'm member of the Class of 2016 in Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering. I was born in Raleigh, NC but grew up in Long Valley, New Jersey so I'm excited to be back in my home state. In high school I ran cross country and track and was a member of the debate team. I also enjoy cooking, shopping, and spending time with my family and friends.

MATLAB Demos

My favorite demo to view in the MATLAB help guide was the "Viewing a Penny" demo within the Graphics category. I looked over the steps of the demo, which use measurements made at the National Institute of Standards and Technology of the mold used to create pennies on a 128x128 grid. The demo shows many graphics, including contour and pseudocolor plots to create graphics that resemble a penny. I think it is very interesting to see how even the microscopic differences in depth between the contours of Lincoln's face, for example, can be used to create a remarkably accurate graphic.
