Previous Tests
Previous ECE 110 tests are available at Dr. G's Big Box of Random. Note that the instructions on the front of the 2013 test will be very similar to the instructions on the front of the Fall 2012 test. Furthermore, the following problems from other classes' tests are relevant:
- BME 153 Test 1
- IV
- BME 153 Test 2
- III, IV
- ECE 61 Test 2 Spring 2001
- V - though now, sources may be sinusoids instead of constants and you could be asked to find ACSS
- ECE 61 Test 2 Fall 2001
- IV - though now, sources may be sinusoids instead of constants and you could be asked to find ACSS
- ECE 61 Test 3 Spring 2001
- II, IV, V
- ECE 61 Test 3 Fall 2001
- I, II, V - though now, sources may be sinusoids instead of constants and you could be asked to find ACSS
- ECE 61 Test 4 Spring 2001
- I* (you can find the voltage between A and B)
- ECE 61 Test 4 Fall 2001
- I* (you can find the voltage between A and B)
- ECE 110 Test 2 Fall 2012
- II, III, IV
- EGR 119 Test 1 Spring 2008
- III
- EGR 119 Test 2 Spring 2008
- II, III,
- EGR 119 Test 1 Spring 2009
- V
- EGR 119 Test 2 Spring 2009
- I(1)
- EGR 119 Test 1 Spring 2010
- IV
- EGR 119 Test 2 Spring 2010
- I, II, III but no op-amps
- EGR 119 Test 1 Spring 2011
- IV
- EGR 119 Test 2 Spring 2011
- I(2), II
- EGR 119 Test 1 Spring 2012
- IV
- EGR 119 Test 2 Spring 2012
- I(1-4) (use j\(\omega\) instead of s), II, III(1)
Test II Spring 2013 Coverage
While the test is necessarily cumulative, the focus will be on the material starting with complex numbers and sinusoids and going through the material on RLC circuits and second order filters.
- Complex numbers and sinusoids
- Impedance, Admittance, Resistance, Reactance, Conductance, Susceptance
- AC Steady State / Phasor Analysis
- Draw circuit in frequency domain
- Determine series of equations using NVM, MCM, and/or BCM to solve relationships in frequency domain
- For "simple" circuits, be able to determine output phasors numerically and translate into time domain
- Frequency response, transfer functions
- Linearity and superposition
- Note that you can solve ACSS problems with sources of different frequencies, but you can only solve for one frequency at a time - do not mix phasors that represent signals at different frequencies!
- Bode magnitude and phase plots / straight-line approximations
- Fourier series
- Analysis of periodic signals comprised of sinusoids with frequencies at integer multiples of the fundamental frequency of the signal
- Determination of coefficients given a signal and a transfer function (real or ideal)
- Synthesis of periodic signals at output of a circuit
- HW 8 Written part - so hot right now.
- Filters
- First order (RC and RL) and second order (LRC)
- Determination of filter type via Bode or magnitude analysis
- Building a circuit to implement a particular first-order filter (will not require op-amps)
Specifically Not On The Test
- Maple
- MATLAB
- Op-Amps
