About Me
I am currently a student of the Class of 2018 at Duke University. I am part of the Pratt School of Engineering and am hoping to study Mechanical Engineering. I am from Ridgefield, Connecticut and have lived in the same house in the same suburb my whole life. I have three siblings, two sisters and one brother, who are all much older than I am. My dad is a doctor and my mom is a teacher. I also have three dogs.
Extracurricular Interests
I love playing tennis and have played my entire life. I also have a passion for philanthropy, math, and theatre. In high school I was most involved with the Tennis Team, Math Team, Philanthropic Youth Council, and a local Jewish Youth Group, among a few other things. At Duke, I am currently involved with the Outing Club, FEMMES (Females Excelling More in Math, Science, and Engineering), and the Jewish Student Union. I also hope to join the Energy Club and Special Olympics College.

Favorite Demonstration
My favorite demonstration is 3-D Plots. I liked it so much because I did not realize there were so many ways to graphically display an image. For example, the difference between the mesh plot and surface plot seems minor, but when looking at the two ways to display the peaks, there are drastic differences. I also really liked this demonstration because I never realized how important visual appeal is in Matlab. All of the different plot types express information in a wide variety of ways. For example, the quiver and contour plots don't seem aesthetically pleasing, but must be important for displaying certain types of data. After becoming so fascinated by this demonstration, I was then able to open the application, 3-D Surface Plots. This app allowed me to play around with the plot type, shading, and colormap and see the resulting graph.
