My favorite MATLAB demonstration is definitely Traveling Salesman. Two summers ago, I attended a discrete mathematics camp that explored problems similar to the traveling salesman problem. I think it's amazing how a computer algorithm is able to minimize distance traveled for a closed circuit in just a matter of seconds. [[File:ts.fig]]

If I were to solve the problem by hand, it would take much longer due to trial and error. The demonstration is fun to play around with because the cities are randomly selected so the solutions are never the exact same.
