My favorite demo was the Travelling Salesman problem because it provided a graphical representation of a real world problem. Also, by only introducing up to 50 cities, the user was aware of the large computing time for finding the best route. It is clear that if we were to consider a route with 500 destinations, the code could take a very long time to complete.

About Me

I am a student from the Duke University Class of 2015. I am most interested in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science as areas of study. I am a 2011 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, VA. When not in school, I live in Herndon, VA with my sister Kripa and my parents. My girlfriend Lucia of four years is a student from the Stanford University Class of 2015.

Name Pronounciation

First Name

If you are not Indian: My name is CHIN-may as in the thing under your face and the month. If you are Indian: My name is CHIN-ma-ya with a soft 'ya' to keep it two syllables.

Last Name

Projects

Project Euler

I've done over 60 of them. If you're not familiar with the site, check it out here.

High School

I coded multiple games using Java and Python. I also spent my senior year developing a program that could artificially compose classical music. (See: Band-in-a-Box)

College

I have not accomplished much. Yet... However, I plan to solve each of the 14 Grand Challenges for Engineering by February 11, 2013. (Assuming the world does not end in December of 2012 as has been predicted multiple times)

Favorite MATLAB Demo

My favorite demo was the Travelling Salesman problem because it provided a graphical representation of a real world problem. Also, by only introducing up to 50 cities, the user was aware of the large computing time for finding the best route. It is clear that if we were to consider a route with 500 destinations, the code could take a very long time to complete.
