This is the summary page for Lab 2 for EGR 224. It has been updated for Spring 2024.
Overview
During lab, we will cover the following topics:
- Maple
- Register for a free MapleSoft account using Duke NetID@duke.edu account
- See Using Maple for installation options
- Maple
- Maple/Initialization and Documentation
- Maple/Simultaneous Equations
- Symbolic/Examples/Circuits
- Examples on MapleCloud:
- Circuit 1 Demo from Symbolic/Examples/Circuits
- Second Brute Force Demo
- A&E 7 Ex 03p04 Using Brute Force - includes a voltage-controlled voltage source
Clarifications
- There are three different Gradescope parts to turn in:
- "Lab 02 Circuit 1 Worksheet (as a PDF)" is the exported PDF of the worksheet for Circuit 1. It would be great if the labeled circuit is in this PDF, but if not, see the third bullet below
- "Lab 02 Circuit 1 Worksheet (as a PDF)" is the exported PDF of the worksheet for Circuit 2. It would be great if the labeled circuit is in this PDF, but if not, see the third bullet below.
- "EGR 224 Lab 02 (Go to gradescope to see all three pieces!) " or "EGR 224 Lab 02 " is ready to take the two .mw files as well as any extra files, like the circuit drawings if they are not a part of your worksheets and need to upload them separately.
- To enter text in Maple, click right below where you want the text then to go the Insert->Paragraph->Above cursor. This is a part of the Maple/Initialization and Documentation
- In the second circuit, there is a current-controlled voltage source labeled $$4I_0$$; the "4" should really be "$$4~\Omega$$" since it needs to have units to convert from a current to a voltage. Similarly, there is a voltage-controlled current source labeled $$2V_0$$ where the "2" is really "2 S" to make the units right.
