About Me!
I am an undergraduate student at Duke University in the Pratt School of Engineering as a prospective biomedical engineering major on the pre-med track. After graduation, I plan on attending a medical school to become a pediatrician.
Name Pronunciation and Etymology
My first name, "Samantha" is pronounced suh- mAEn- thuh. The IPA version of my name is /səˈmænθə/. "Samantha" is a feminine derivative of the male name "Samuel" and was most popular in the United States from the 1970s-2000s. My last name, "Dilley" is dill-lee, pronounced the same way as the popular ice cream, Dilly Bars, and the "Dilly, Dilly!" catchphrase from the Bud Light commercials.
Education and Hobbies
I attended Eastern York High School in rural York, Pennsylvania. During high school I participated in various clubs and organizations such as:
- First Robotics Competition Team TechFire 225
- Eastern York Marching Band - Drum Major
- Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Band
Outside of High School I:
- worked at PennAir Pnuematics & Hydraulics as an electrical engineering intern
- performed with The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps as part of Drum Corps International
- fly Bristell Sport Aircraft
At Duke University I:
- perform with The Duke University Marching Band
- work at The Perkins and Bostock Libraries as an Interlibrary Student Assistant
- work in the Cataloging Department at Smith Warehouse
