This is Jesse Hu's Pratt Pundit page.

Who (Hu) Am I?

Jesse is a First-Year Student at Duke University in Durham, NC. He is currently enrolled in the Pratt School of Engineering and taking EGR 103 (Computational Methods in Engineering). He is currently Undecided in major, but has interests in engineering, computer science, and chemistry.

Jesse likes to hang out with friends and eat out whenever he can. He prefers to shop online whenever he can, thereby letting his car gather dust. He plays guitar and saxophone and enjoys a variety of music, including alternative rock, indie, and electronic. Jesse also has interests in web development and computer programming as a hobby.

Jesse is from Wesley Chapel, Florida (north of Tampa), where he attended Wiregrass Ranch High School.

Assignment 1: Grand Challenges

Assignment 2: MATLAB Demonstrations

My favorite MATLAB Demonstrations were:

  • Travelling Salesman:
Simply because it is amazing to see a classic problem redone in an intuitive way, with graphical representation. I enjoyed how fast it played out, as well as the amount of configurations it allowed with the graphical interface.
  • Earth's Topography:
Because it is very interesting how much well information can be viewed with built-in functions in MATLAB, and very cool to be able to manipulate the same data in different ways. Same goes for Viewing a Penney.
  • Controlling Random Numbers:
The ability to have tons of control over the repeating and seeding of random numbers is interesting. The fact that random numbers are so useful and that they are not in fact "random" makes MATLAB seem powerful in that aspect.
