About Me

Background

My name is Murphy Poplyk, and I was born in a Springfield Hospital, just outside of Cleveland, OH.

When I was six years old, my family moved to Ingleside, IL, about twenty minutes away from Chicago. When I was there, I had a friend with very spikey hair. On the bus, I pulled it to see what it felt like. I made him cry. Sorry, Tony, I didn't mean to.

A year later, my family moved to Pinehurst, NC, where I currently live. I went to Pinecrest High School, and I currently attend Duke University (duh, since this is a Duke page).

Homework 1

For this homework, I was supposed to pick a Grand Challenge in Engineering and find an article that relates to it. I chose the Reverse-engineer the Brain challenge, and here is the article I chose. It is an article from NPR, a radio station that I used to listen to frequently.

Homework 2

For this homework, I had to look at several MATLAB demos under the Help>MATLAB>Demos section. My favorite one ended up being the 3-D Drawing demo, for the sheer fact that I accidentally wasted a solid 10 minutes drawing figures to be made into 3-D. Very entertaining.
