My favorite demonstration in MATLAB is the Loma Prieta Earthquake Demo. I found the application of MATLAB to a real-world scenario, to create graphs of types that I often see in actual texts about earthquakes, fascinating. This may also be partially attributed to the connections I was able to draw between several operations performed in the demo and other classes I have taken/am taking, such as Multivariable Calculus.

About Me

I'm an undergraduate in the Pratt School of Engineering, Class of 2016. Thinking about majoring in BME, possibly a double major... We'll see!

I was born in Winston-Salem, NC, but I've lived in Florida since I was three. I'm from Merritt Island, in the heart of the Space Coast, so the proximity to the Kennedy Space Center influenced my decision to go into engineering. I'm in the Navy ROTC program here at Duke, and I'm also Pre-Health; between this and my schoolwork, I'm typically busy all day, every day. Should anybody for any reason have any questions, I'm happy to answer them!

Classes

This being my first semester, I'm taking EGR 103. That's about the extent of my experience.

Grand Challenges of Engineering

Budget cuts threaten pursuit of nuclear fusion as a clean energy source, Brian Vastag, The Washington Post, 25 June 2012, accessed 7 September 2012 (Provide Energy from Fusion)

MATLAB Demonstrations

My favorite demonstration in MATLAB is the Loma Prieta Earthquake Demo. I found the application of MATLAB to a real-world scenario, to create graphs of types that I often see in actual texts about earthquakes, fascinating. This may also be partially attributed to the connections I was able to draw between several operations performed in the demo and other classes I have taken/am taking, such as Multivariable Calculus.
