My favorite MatLab demo is the Game of Life demo. Partially because I just find it fun to watch, like a soothing sort of screensaver, but also because as one of the many scrambling to figure out Lab 3, I'm amazed at the complexity that has to be involved, even though the description says it's simple. Just coming up with all the logic to make the program work had to have been really really interesting.

About Me

Hey! I'm a freshman at Duke University and a part of the Class of 2015. I'm from Tinley Park, IL, which is a south suburb of Chicago that was voted the Best Place to Raise Your Kids in the nation in 2009. I went to VJA High School. I'm not quite sure what I want to major in yet, but I'm looking at engineering and visual arts.

Interests

In the order they come to mind...

  • Cartoons, comics, animation, and drawing
  • Puzzle games
  • Reading (mostly sci-fi/fantasy, but I'll read anything)
  • Swimming
  • Rock Climbing
  • Kayaking
  • Sleeping
  • Italian Beef Sandwiches (which I hear don't actually exist outside of Illinois)
  • Television and Movies

Name Pronunciation

My full name, Elizabeth Novaski, is pronounced "EE-liz-AH-beth" "NO-vaa-SKI". The -va- part is pronounced with an 'a' like in 'apple'. I like to go by Liz.

Grand Challenges in Engineering

This is an article I actually found towards the end of last school year, because the Watson robot on Jeopardy had me curious about programming computers to think like humans. Still fits the challenge though...

Matlab Demos

My favorite MatLab demo is the Game of Life demo. Partially because I just find it fun to watch, like a soothing sort of screensaver, but also because as one of the many scrambling to figure out Lab 3, I'm amazed at the complexity that has to be involved, even though the description says it's simple. Just coming up with all the logic to make the program work had to have been really really interesting.
