My favorite MATLAB demonstration is Graphics: 3-D Surface Plots because I prefer the interactive demonstrations to those that just involve reading and/or watching. The 3-D Surface Plots demo was particularly interesting to me because I was able to easily change the plot type, shading, and colormap without knowing any of the coding; however, I was able to see the code in the command window adjust as I made these changes, and thus I was able to learn some of the coding as well.

NAE Grand Challenge

The NAE Grand Challenge that I find most important is that of providing access to clean drinking water:

Biological Approaches for Addressing the Grand Challenge of Providing Access to Clean Drinking Water, Mark R Riley, Charles P Gerba, and Menachem Elimelech, Journal of Biological Engineering, published online 31 March 2011, accessed 13 September 2011 (Grand Challenge)

MATLAB Demonstration

My favorite MATLAB demonstration is Graphics: 3-D Surface Plots because I prefer the interactive demonstrations to those that just involve reading and/or watching. The 3-D Surface Plots demo was particularly interesting to me because I was able to easily change the plot type, shading, and colormap without knowing any of the coding; however, I was able to see the code in the command window adjust as I made these changes, and thus I was able to learn some of the coding as well.
