Hello hello! My name is Josh Izzard, and I'm one of the hopeless few trying to make it in this world as a Prattstar (class of 2015). I'm from Dallas, Texas, born and raised (Texas y'all), and other interests include tennis, photography, vegetables, and living well. I've been fortunate enough to travel a lot to many different places, including South Africa, my parents' home country.

My family pronounces my last name with a pronounced degree of inconsistency. Sometimes a slightly British accent leaks through, and the second syllable gets changed around, but the way I educate people on my last name is by saying "Hi I'm Josh Izzard. Spelled and said like 'lizard,' but with two 'z's and no 'L'." So hi! I'm Josh "I-zzard"

Photography is something that I got really involved with in high school, and I've been trying to keep it up as best I can. Over the the Summer of 2011 I went to Africa for a month-long graduation-present trip to see family and go on a safari, in South Africa and Namibia respectively, and so I'm currently working on editing those photos. To see some of my unedited photos from Cape Town and Namibia just add me on Google+!

My favorite MATLAB demo was the one about the Klein bottle because it just crunches my mind how something so contradictory could exist just by "attaching two Mobius strips together at their boundaries." We are currently doing vectors in Math 103, and I don't know if reading about Klein bottles excites me or scares me for more time in the arena with DukeMath & Company.

About Me

Hello hello! My name is Josh Izzard, and I'm one of the hopeless few trying to make it in this world as a Prattstar (class of 2015). I'm from Dallas, Texas, born and raised (Texas y'all), and other interests include tennis, photography, vegetables, and living well. I've been fortunate enough to travel a lot to many different places, including South Africa, my parents' home country.

Name Pronunciation

My family pronounces my last name with a pronounced degree of inconsistency. Sometimes a slightly British accent leaks through, and the second syllable gets changed around, but the way I educate people on my last name is by saying "Hi I'm Josh Izzard. Spelled and said like 'lizard,' but with two 'z's and no 'L'." So hi! I'm Josh "I-zzard"

Photography

Photography is something that I got really involved with in high school, and I've been trying to keep it up as best I can. Over the the Summer of 2011 I went to Africa for a month-long graduation-present trip to see family and go on a safari, in South Africa and Namibia respectively, and so I'm currently working on editing those photos. To see some of my unedited photos from Cape Town and Namibia just add me on Google+!

Grand Challenges for Engineering

The article I chose deals with Formula 1's Virtual Reality. I chose it because my dad is an F1 fanatic and he wakes me up with the whining of cars buzzing around the track every other Sunday while the season is going on.

MATLAB Demonstrations

My favorite MATLAB demo was the one about the Klein bottle because it just crunches my mind how something so contradictory could exist just by "attaching two Mobius strips together at their boundaries." We are currently doing vectors in Math 103, and I don't know if reading about Klein bottles excites me or scares me for more time in the arena with DukeMath & Company.
