Hello, I am Michael Reinsvold from the great "Show Me" state of Missouri.  I am originally from California but I moved to Missouri around the age of two.  Oh and no, I'm not from St. Louis as hard as that is to believe.  I had a pretty typical high school tenure, i.e. soccer, basketball, NHS, stuco, musicals, and the like.  I am currently a BME/pre-med.  I fit the mold for the most stereotypical mold of a duke freshman.

The bending truss is by far my favorite demo.  Not only is it amusing to watch it bounce, but it provides interesting insight into how bridge trusses undergo stress.  I think I would be a little concerned if I ever saw a bridge bending, bouncing, or swaying like that.  I'm sure it is a useful tool for calculating the stress on trusses.  Bridges most likely do sway and bounce like that, but on a larger scale that isn't as noticeable due to the size of the bridge.
