About me
I am an international student: I was born and raised in the Netherlands. Since English is my second language, I might make mistakes in grammar or pronunciation sometimes. If that happens, please correct me!
Name Pronunciation
The pronunciation of my first name is pretty straightforward: SOH-phie. My last name is a bit more difficult: vahn HOW-uh-ning-uh. The 'ng' sound does not exist in the English language, but I can probably describe it as follows: it sounds like the 'ng' in orange right up until the 'dzje' sound of the g in orange. If this explanation does not work for you, think of it as a less pronounced g (the g as in goat).

MATLAB Demonstrations
My favourite MATLAB demonstration is the Teapot (in the section graphics) because I love tea, and also because I think it is really nice to see that you can do all sorts of things with MATLAB that seem unrelated to math. Another one of my favourites is the Images and Matrices demo, because it shows another application of matrices that makes them applicable to art.
