Hi. My name is Jake Herb. I was born on a cold snowy afternoon February 9, 1996. I remember that time well. America was locked in a bloody  conflict with Canada. Dubbed "The Maple Syrup War," the armed struggle would cause five-billion deaths over the next two days. These were dark days. Hi. My name is Jake Herb.

I am from Barrington, IL. I enjoy hiking and running, and I am having a great first couple weeks at Duke.

The Pratt Pundit demonstration Mathematics: Optimization was my favorite. I was intrigued by the different command that MATLAB has built in to calculate the maximum and minimums of different functions. Commands 'optiget' and 'optiset' struck me as particularly useful.

Thanks, have a great day.
