About Me

My name is Sebastian Baquerizo, and I come from Ecuador. I am a freshman at Duke University looking to major in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Pratt School of Engineering. I graduated from a New England boarding school in NH, Phillips Exeter Academy, in the year 2013.

Name Pronunciation

The way most Americans pronounce my name "Sebastian Baquerizo" is "se-BAST-chian ba-kay-Ri-zo." If it helps, it's the same name of the crab in the little mermaid, Sebastian. Furthermore, my last name, Baquerizo, rhymes with chorizo.

Current Classes

For the fall of 2013, I am taking four classes at Duke University.

  • ARTHIST.285D: Modern Architecture
  • CEE.160L: Introduction to Environmental Engineering
  • EGR.103L: Computational Methods
  • MATH 122L: Calculus II

Grand Challenges for Engineering Article

New Approaches and Technologies for Wastewater Management , Glen T. Daigger , National Academy of Engineering , Fall 2008 , September 15, 2013 ( 3. Provide access to clean water)

Favorite Matlab Demostration:

My favorite Matlab demostrations was the Bending Truss one, which was part of the other examples. This one was my favorite demonstration because I am planning on becoming a Civil Engineer, and I am very interested in bridges constructions. This demonstration comes in handy in order to understand how bridges behave in real life.
