== About Me: Ashley Reid ==

I am from Charlotte, NC and am now living in Wilson House this year. I am majoring in Biomedical Engineering in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University, and I am also considering Mechanical Engineering and pre-med. I enjoy running as part of the Duke Roadrunners/Club Cross Country team, Irish dancing, and traveling. I hope to study abroad as well as participate in Duke Engage in a Spanish-speaking country during my time here at Duke.

My favorite demonstration from the Getting Started Guide to MATLAB was "Viewing a Penny." This tutorial used different 3-D imaging techniques to create surface maps. By altering the code used in MATLAB, we can vary the figures created by color, orientation, outlining, etc. This demo uses applications of MATLAB that were used in the Earth's topography demo. It would be interesting to use these techniques to map other objects as well.
